Navizon Lite now available, and it's free!!

We just launched a new version of Navizon called Navizon Lite. This version will let you get your position using the closest cell towers around you with an accuracy of approximately 1500 meters (1 mile), something similar to what Google Maps offers with its "My location" feature. Navizon Lite is available for the iPhone, Windows Mobile, Symbian/Nokia and Blackberry devices.

For those of you who need a more accurate positioning system, Navizon (full version) might be for you. It includes the power of Wifi positioning combined with Cellular positioning, offering you an accuracy of approximately 10 to 30 meters in an urban setting.

Navizon Lite includes a 15 day free trial of the full version. Once your trial period expires, it will automatically switch to the Lite version unless you decide to upgrade to the full version for a one-time fee of $24.99.

Here's a little side-by-side comparison between Navizon Lite and the full version of Navizon:

Navizon for PC and MAC

Navizon_pc_macMany people have been asking us: "I have a phone that cannot connect to a GPS but I do have a GPS device. How can I contribute".

Well, there is good news for you: the version of Navizon for PC and MAC is now fully operational.

Some of you might say this is not new and they would be right since the desktop version was launched a couple of months ago.
But what is new is that you can now use it to map wifi access points and cell towers (if you have a Nokia or Sony Ericsson phone paired with your computer) if you have a GPS device.

Navizon now compatible with MGMaps

Mgmaps_snap_1Since the first day of the release of Navizon, I've heard the same question asked over and over again: "OK, knowing your geographic location  is cool but where can I see this info displayed on a map?".
The best thing I could answer was to get one of the expensive driving assistants currently available on the market.

Well, that was until today: now you can use Navizon to find your location and display it on MGMaps. And if you don't have a GPS, that's OK: if you are in an area already covered by Navizon's database it will still work with Navizon Premium.

Navizon API now available

Good news for software developers and location based services providers: the Navizon API is now available!
It is now possible to use the power of Navizon's positioning engine in third party applications.
The API  can work as a "virtual GPS" for any Windows Mobile applications (for Pocket PCs and Smartphones).
Hopefully, we'll see all sorts of new cool applications florish thanks to this API. Stay tuned...

In case you were wondering, we've been working...

So many announcements that I don't know where to start. But I had a very long day so I'll try to keep it short. I'll probably ellaborate over the weekend.

First, we have a new web site. Hats off to you Gabriel!!

Then, we just released a new version of Navizon for Pocket PC (version 1.4). It solves many technical problems that some users experienced in the past and it is now dead-easy to use. With the new Remote Data Access feature, you can now install Navizon on your phone and you're ready to go. I'll give a much more detailed list of new features for this version shortly.

And last but not least, we just released a version for Windows Smartphones.  So now, with my new QTEK 8300, I am not only happy like a pig in the mud, I am ready to travel the world with Navizon!
